Regardless of such Grimmness, the quote, in the photgraph on the brown paper is from that doyenne of philosophical tidbits: Herr F.Nietzsche.
I to am unfamiliar with the rumplestiltskin reference, although as I write I think of the 'gold' as hair perhaps?
I have never been completely certain of the reason why Nietzsche used it, but I like to think of it as 'commodity terror' in that, there is a muddle of stuff which when marketed or commodified, becomes valuable. I tell myself that the muck Nietzsche speaks of is HIS talent and talent/muck is itself valuable. With or without Gold.
To finish, to be finished? The resolution seems empty. -Even Nietzsche wanted to be famous, perhaps he was warning us what is at stake.
"If I will not turn all this coal to gold, then I have finished"
no confusion here ...just memory loss...I can't remember at moment why Nietzche said that, although I'm sure I read /saw it somewhere...it will come to me no doubt.
no, not hair, straw. The task set was to spin straw into gold before morning broke...which the unfortunate spinner was unable to do, at this point up jumps Rumpelstiltskin and offers to perform the task - which he then repeats three times running...however there was a clause..there always is ...this may be poignant. It's not to be confused with Rapunzel ( that was hair).
Anyway, I'm sure there are many parallels to be gleaned . Maybe old Herr N was thinking of /or reminded of the story of Rumpelstiltskin himself.
Personally I think 'one' his finest momemts was his 'empathy with the horse episode'.
Even so...I don't think Nietzsche confused muck with straw, or hair. Gleaning aside, The context he was speaking in had more to do with making sense of his mind, 'cognitive muck' if you will, as opposed to some manufacturing process.
Question. find first fulcrum for fine filosophical finger find fodder for flipant fairytale fallacy?
who said Herr N confused muck with straw or hair? I certainly didn't. Making sense of his mind as opposed to 'some manufacturing process?? - making sense of his mind is still a 'manufacturing process' - the fact that it goes on 'inside' the brain rather than outside in some 'industrial process' does not exclude it from being 'manufactured'...
Nietzsche + basic alchemy ( via the metaphor of 'hausmaerchen')
(I'm aware of the context - just don't remember 'why' he said it, by which I mean in response to specific stimuli/events.)

no doubt rumplestiltskin will step in at the 11th hour.
I allude to the brothers Grimm fairy story ...you are familiar with this yes?

Still, rumplestiltskin?
The post was called raisin date because I anglicised the phrase Raison 'd'etre. Now, why would I do that?
(reason for being)
Not sorry for the confusion.
