Without bad languages

Anja Raben said...

...which languages do you consider to be 'bad'? Badly designed or just thoroughly nasty pieces of work that you wouldn't want to meet unless you had a sub machine gun and a waterspray to hand?

i raised a concern about the use of expletives

Yes, and I raised a concern about bad languages, (whether they can be said to exist or not.)

profound quote: "instead of language the stupid use pictures. instead of mathematics the stupid use language" micheál o'connell may 2009. this needs to be worked upon more but it's a beginning. so all languages are inadequate but some more than others. and i realise this is primitive thinking.

Bad language, I meant 'without bad language', and not 'languages'...If I knew the trouble my expressions would cause, I would never have opened my mouth. (turn of phase.)

Bad languages are surely anything other than the language in which something is expressed. All 'other languages fall away... although, restaurant seems to disagree with me. Chow down. I DEMAND THAT MISS RABEN BE REINSTATED! I HAVE SIGNED A ONE MAN PETITION.

- thank you Lord Lloyd, it seems I am at least still afforded the liberty of commenting on this blog - so I shall put my case - I was simply noting the fact that the word 'languages' was used rather than languages, thus shifting the meaning entirely and opening a new line of thought - which incidently I found to be amusing and rather pun - worthy.
Unless it was the mention of 'cheese poisoning' that afforded this sorry state of affairs? - if so then 'cheese poisoning' is indeed a more dangerous malady than even I had imagined - poisoning the mind as well as the stomach.

Farewell - I leave the Set's good servant - but Art's first.

- my last post should have read:

'I was simply noting the fact that the word 'languages' was used rather than 'language'

...in case that were to cause further mis-understandings...

numerically speaking I meant '48'
but wrote '49'.

One further point:

Why the censoring of certain (fairly mild) expletives? The post in question could be said to have been metaphorically lyrical and very possibly the 'best phrase' to describe the situation. Also why the censoring of images and posts? Is this not a space where one can express one's opinions, thoughts and musings? One man's meat ( or cheese) is another man's poison certainly, but need not be ingested.

I would certainly appreciate some explanation whilst considering taking up the offer of my reinstatement.

In earnest and not in jest,
Anja

Dear Miss understanding,
I would be greatful if you and your friends would marry or settle down and get on with the very serious business of sophocles.

Lord Lloyd Ugo said...

Earnest is never in jest, but...
jest is never in earnest...
is jest earnest or is earnest jest. Just, as is in jest is earnest just.

Anja Raben said...

Jest is indeed in earnest just,
but leaves the 'âne' alone to rust.

...enough of this silliness, Hugo is probably spinning in his tomb.
